In the privacy of my own home, I teach
all levels of keyboard instruction. Many of my students have been
through word of mouth or fliers I put around the neighborhood. What
astounds me the most are the students that have come to me from
other teachers. I sit and look at where they are at, and where they
could or should be, their technique and understanding of musical
styles and interpretation, which I feel is most important. When
I see a student who has been playing for several years, and still
has no concept of understanding rhythms, notes, and especially technique,
I have to wonder why these teachers are teaching to begin with.
In my lessons, I incorporate technique,
theory, and history to make learning music, and keyboard more interesting,
and giving it a better understanding. Music is my passion and I
love to teach, and to share that knowledge with my students. I offer
tips and tricks to make music easier and more comprehensive because
when I took piano, I was told to just do it, because this is the
required curriculum. I explain to my students how all of this is
relative to what they are learning or will learn to give them a
broader understanding of how it all applies to what they are doing.
With voice, I feel that interpretive
style is most important. Anyone can sing or play a note, but it
is what you do with that note that will set you apart. Interested?
